What are the 4 types of AI?
There are several ways to classify AI, but a common framework is to divide it into four categories:
- Reactive machines: These AI systems can only react to the environment, and do not have the ability to form memories or make decisions based on previous experiences. Example: IBM's Deep Blue chess computer
- Limited memory: These AI systems have a limited memory, which allows them to use past experiences to inform current decisions. Example: self-driving cars that can remember past traffic patterns
- Theory of mind: These AI systems can understand and simulate human emotions and mental states.
- Self-aware: These AI systems possess a sense of self-awareness and consciousness. Such AI systems are not yet exist.
It's important to note that the boundary between these categories is not clear-cut, and some systems may possess features of more than one category.
